All watches Pinion makes are low-run editions, normally in batches of fifty or a hundred. We work with quality family-owned manufacturers in Europe who are specialists in their field, then we bring everything together for finishing, assembly and testing in England.

Occassionally, we’ll make ultra-low versions of our watches. In this case, is the R1969 ‘Matt-Orange’ (M-OR) which is an edition run of 2 pieces from the original run of 100, with only one piece being available.

This model features a matt blasted case, orange markers, white painted hour & min hands and a special ‘red & black’ date wheel ( Dates alternate between red and black numbers ).

Pinion recently made a minimal collection of customised dials for the R-1969 hand wound chronograph. These include versions of the original dial with no date display, a variation with no inner blue circle and this, which has bright orange numerals and hands. The orange edition is very limited to five pieces ( From the original run of 100).

Pinion has produced a small set of black R-1969 watches which feature a DLC coated case.

Whilst the original R-1969 had an elegant polished finish, this variant has the case blasted to a matt finish prior to applying the black DLC coating which is undertaken in England.

In keeping with the original, we’ve kept the polished crown and pushers as well as the polished steel engraved and numbered case back, which compliment the polished diamond cut hands on the dial.

The resulting look is more utilitarian than elegant form of the original – It was available as a special built to order model in only a handful of editions from the original R-1969 range of 100 pieces.

Influenced by iconic motorsport images from around 46 years ago, Pinion has created a collection of poster images that are used to illustrate the R-1969 limited edition watch, as if it had been released back when its hand wound movement, the Valjoux 7734 had been made.

Revered for its ruggedness and reliability the handwound Valjoux 7734 movement was (and still is) one of the most dependable watch engines of its era. The movements used in the Pinion R1969 production were all made in 1969 but never assembled or put into a watch. That is, until now.

Here are the first images of the Revival 1969 as a final finished model. Everything is complete, including the smoked glass caseback.
