Here’s a special Pinion Axis Black that is fresh from the set of Feature Film, PATIENT ZERO that is currently in production.

Built specifically for the film’s costume department, this watch and nylon strap has been modified to fit in with the futuristic military uniforms used in the film appearing damaged and covered in (fake) blood.

Patient Zero is a post apocalyptic fantasy-horror which will star Mat Smith, Natalie Dormer, Stanley Tucci and Clive Standen.

Clive Standen at SalonQP 2014

We were delighted to see our friend, English actor Clive Standen as a guest of Pinion last night at fine watch exhibition, SalonQP in London last night.

Having only just finished filming hit TV show, ‘Vikings Season 3‘ over in Ireland two weeks before, Clive (almost unrecognisable in short hair) who wears a Pinion Axis Black watch, enjoyed chatting with us and other guest whilst looking at our new collection of fine watches at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

Best known for playing the character of ‘Rollo’ in The History Channel’s Vikings, Clive is also known for roles in TV shows such as the BBC ONE’s Robin Hood, Doctor Who and Starz Camelot series.

In September 2013 we debuted our first ever watch design to the world: The Pinion Axis Black.

Fast forward to now, less than a year later and we are almost sold out of the watch from our initial production run with only a couple of watches still available.

The Axis Black is an effortless, uncomplicated watch which has been designed to be highly legible and accurate. It utilises a Swiss made ETA 2824-2 automatic movement which is housed in a solid structural case making the watch a highly robust and dependable timepiece.

The case which is made from stainless steel is bead blasted and DLC (Diamond like Carbon) coated prior to full assembly and testing by our experienced watchmakers here in England.

Axis dials

The last piece of the puzzle arrived today in the form of the finalised Pinion AXIS dials fresh from manufacture. Looking extremely crisp, the green dial is for the bronze Axis and the black for steel and DLC versions of the watch. These dials contain a nice layering of SWISS SuperLuminova® which will provide perfect timekeeping in the dark.

Along with our cases, hands, straps and buckles the Axis will now start to be assembled this week here in the UK.
