However this simplicity contains a level of high finish and quality Pinion insists with all of its watches.

From the subtle flat satin coloured hue of the brass dial base, the sharp white lines of the indexes to the prominence of the Swiss SuperLuminova® humps for the numerals – These fine details help make timekeeping in a variety of lighting conditions clear and highly functional for the wearer.

Here’s some fresh pictures of the Pinion Axis Steel Dawn.

This watch was released along with the Bronze Dusk as an extension of the Axis automatic collection in 2013.

Normally seen on its vegetable tanned dark blue leather strap, the Steel Dawn is incredibly versatile – The vibrant blue dial compliments a wide range of Pinion straps – from tan through to dark brown, which is pictured here.

Axis: Phase II

Production is well under way now for the second batch of Pinion Axis watches. The new timepieces will feature Blue and Brown dials for Steel and Bronze models completing the line-up for the Axis Automatic range.

These new models will be in stock and ready to ship this month. Look out for specifications, pricing and photos of these models from next week onwards!

Axis dials

The last piece of the puzzle arrived today in the form of the finalised Pinion AXIS dials fresh from manufacture. Looking extremely crisp, the green dial is for the bronze Axis and the black for steel and DLC versions of the watch. These dials contain a nice layering of SWISS SuperLuminova® which will provide perfect timekeeping in the dark.

Along with our cases, hands, straps and buckles the Axis will now start to be assembled this week here in the UK.

Axis watch wallet

The first batch of Pinion Axis watches will be assembled and shipped out to customers who’ve reserved their favourite serial numbers this month. The watches will travel as close to home in London but as far as Australia and other countries around the globe.

To keep the watch safe on it’s travels, we’ve been focussing on producing the Pinion watch wallet. Made from bottle green leather, the wallet will house the Axis plus strap changing tool and is 100% made by hand in the UK.

As a final touch, the wallet itself will be enclosed in a heavy screen printed canvas bag.

Introducing the Pinion Axis

Pinion, a newly established watch company based in South Oxfordshire, England will be making it’s debut at the renowned fine watch exhibition, SalonQP with the release of it’s first watch collection, called ‘Axis’.

Signifying the origin for the companies first venture into fine watches, the Pinion Axis collection will be based around a single classic watch design which will then be presented in a number of different treatments and materials, some of which will be on display at the SalonQP exhibition.

Having been designed in England, the watches will be made to the very highest standards and built from a combination of English and Swiss bespoke made parts. Beating at the heart of each watch will be an automatic ETA movement, whilst case finishing, coating, watch assembly and testing will be completed in England.

Each Axis will be fitted with a high quality handmade leather strap and the whole package will be presented in a finely made leather wallet.

Sized at 42mm in diameter, the Pinion Axis will evoke design simplicity, high legibility and hard-wearing robustness for exceptional uses and will retail from £1,995.

Customers will be able to order watches exclusively at pinionwatches.com from November 2013, with initial orders being delivered early in 2014.
