For the Pinion Revival 1969, we’ve used a Glucydur balance wheel (fig1) which is made from beryllium bronze. This is superior to a standard nickel wheel because it won’t deform if exposed to differing temperatures and is more robust should it receive a shock.
Also the pivots and jewel bearings that support the balance wheel are fragile in comparison to the mass they must support and without shock protection would likely damage under impact.
In place, protecting them is the Incabloc (fig 2) This is a high quality, lyre-shaped, spring loaded mounting system that protects the intricate jewels should the watch be dropped.
All the technology we are using is tried and tested ensuring the balance wheel maintains its perfect shape and motion, which means more consistently accurate timekeeping.
